More about Dana…
What brought you to Powell River? After living in the interior of BC and running a business for eight years, my husband and I felt it was time to return to the coast, where we both grew up. We loved the experience of living in a small, close-knit community and sought a similar lifestyle on the coast. When we discovered Powell River, we were captivated by its natural beauty and welcoming community, and we knew right away that this was where we wanted to make our forever home.
When you're not working, how do you like to spend your time? I enjoy hiking, boating, swimming, gardening and wild harvesting.
What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid? As a child, I dreamed of becoming an international traveling nurse, or a Doctor. Caring for others came naturally to me, and I felt a deep calling to help those in need, no matter where they were in life. I always found myself rooting for the underdog, inspired by their resilience and determination, and wanting to make a difference in their lives.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Be unapologetically who you are meant to be. Forging your true path isn’t always easy, especially when the world tries to pull you toward who you think you "should" be. But when you live authentically, fully embracing your true self, life has a way of falling into place. And as you walk your path, let compassion, kindness, and an open heart free from judgment guide you—these are the keys to a life well-lived. What is a dream you have that you’ve yet to achieve?
A dream I have yet to achieve is completing my PhD in Integrative Medicine, which I am currently working on. It’s a goal I’m deeply committed to.
What's one thing about you that surprises people? I often come across as being in the background, naturally falling into supportive roles with a quiet and unassuming demeanor. That’s why it surprises people to learn that I’ve built and sold two highly successful businesses. It’s a reminder that even from the background, you can lead and achieve.
What do you love most about your career? What I love most about my career is witnessing the incredible strength of people as they rise above life's challenges to achieve their dreams. I deeply believe that each of us has a unique purpose, and guiding others to uncover and embrace theirs is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
