Take Flight Media & Creekside Crossing Campground

Coastal Women in Business Board Member

President

Hello! I began my business of online content in September of 2020 and have been loving the opportunities I have to be creative and at the same time help others to achieve their goals. I also have over 30 years of combined sales management in both retail and wholesale from my years of living in the lower mainland. In 2020 my husband and I opened Creekside Crossing Campground in Lang Bay. Living and working in combination with Take Flight Media and Creekside Crossing Campground give me the chance to work in a technical world as well as be surrounded by nature and be able to work outside as well!

More about Cheri…

What brought you to Powell River?: I grew up in Powell River but moved away when I was 18 to pursue job opportunities. It had been our (my husband and I) intentions to move back to Powell River once we completed our campground to live. We have family here and friends as well as this is home.

When you're not working, how do you like to spend your time?: Not work? Lol! Ok, yes it happens occasionally.... I love to be outdoors, walking, gardening, kayaking, working on our campground, being social with family and friends. We have an Australian Shepherd who also keeps me busy! I can always find something to do during the rare times I am not working!

What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?: I dreamed of being a veterinarian. So, it is no surprise I ended up in the pet industry.

What's one thing about you that surprises people?: That I have an 18 year old grandson!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?: I was told one time as a young person when I was complaining about not feeling well, that if I continued to speak it and live it then it would for sure happen! I was told that if I want positive to happen in my life then I had to say it, and believe it. It is the best advice I try to always pass on to anyone. It changed my whole perspective on how I view life.

What is a dream you have that you’ve yet to achieve?: I am almost living my dream now, I am very fortunate, but I can say, some dreams left, learn to fly, travel the world.

What do you love most about your career?: Creating content for online use, I love that I am able to be creative and learn about new subjects. It is such a great feeling when I can help someone else achieve their goals as well. For the campground, I love when we finish our spring clean up and the campground is ready to open and while open I love meeting people from all over BC, Canada, and other parts of the world. Coming together in nature is always amazing.
